English Romantic poet of nature

William Wordsworth was an English poet and writer. He was born on April 7, 1770, in Cockermouth, England. He died on April 23, 1850. Wordsworth is one of the main writers of Romanticism, a literary movement that began in the late 1700s. His poems often describe nature and simple experiences.

Wordsworth grew up in the Lake District, a rural area in northern England. This region has lakes, hills, and mountains. The natural landscape had a strong influence on his writing. After studying at the University of Cambridge, he traveled in Europe. During this time, he was affected by events such as the French Revolution. These events shaped his early ideas and writing.

In 1798, Wordsworth published a book called Lyrical Ballads with another poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge. This book is considered an important work in English literature. It used everyday language instead of formal style. The poems focused on ordinary people and natural scenes. Wordsworth believed poetry should use clear words and express real feelings.

Many of Wordsworth’s poems describe nature in detail. He often wrote about walking outdoors, watching rivers, or looking at flowers. One well-known poem is I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud. In this poem, he describes seeing daffodils near a lake. Wordsworth believed that nature could shape thoughts and emotions over time.

Later in life, Wordsworth became Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom. A Poet Laureate is a poet officially chosen by the government. He received this title in 1843. By this time, his writing style had become more traditional. He continued to live in the Lake District for most of his life.

William Wordsworth is remembered as an important figure in English poetry. His work influenced many later writers. His poems are still read today for their clear language and detailed descriptions of nature and human experience.
